PediTemp is a temperature sensor mat designed to give peace of mind to those living with diabetes. The 5-point sensor enables quick and accurate readouts of foot temperature to prevent infections and other diabetic complications.
PROBLEM Globally, an estimated 422 million adults are living with diabetes in 2014, and is set to be the 7th leading cause of death by 2030. Diabetic neuropathy is a common serious complication of diabetes. People experience burning pain in the feet, numbness, tingling, and loss of sensation. This puts them at risk for foot ulceration or foot infection.
RESEARCH To better understand those living with diabetes, I volunteered at the American Diabetes Association's signature fundraising event called Tour de Cure. At the event, I was able to speak with the ADA’s director and interview event goers to better understand their pain points. With their stories and experiences, I constructed an empathy map and ideated design solutions based on market research.
WIREFRAMES After
